& Regulations
Climbing Risk Warning
Climbing is inherently dangerous and involves risks that may result in serious injury, paralysis, or death. HEXROCK Climbing is committed to minimizing the inherent dangers of indoor rock climbing through staff training, facility design, equipment standards, and established safety procedures; however, these measures cannot eliminate all risks.
By entering the facility or participating in climbing and related activities, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume the risks associated with climbing.
Check-In & Access
1. Every individual entering the facility must check in at the front desk.
2. All participants entering the facility, especially to engage in climbing or training activities, must have a current waiver on file.
Age & Supervision
3. Bouldering: Climbers must be 12 years or older to boulder and self-clip auto-belays.
4. Minors under 14: Must be actively supervised by an adult at all times.
General Facility Rules
5. Climbing on adjustable/system boards while they are moving is not allowed.
6. Climbing shoes must be worn while on the wall.
7. No running, roughhousing, or acrobatics (flips, cartwheels, handstands, etc.).
8. Please do not yell, scream, or play your own music.
9. Headphones must not prevent effective communication or situational awareness.
10. Climbing gear is not allowed in restrooms.
11. Fitness equipment may be used only by those 13+ (unless in a supervised program).
12. Do not climb with rings; other jewelry is strongly discouraged (risk of degloving/asphyxiation).
13. Never stand, sit, or walk where another climber could fall on you.
14. Do not climb above, below, or directly next to another climber unless explicitly designated by HEXROCK Climbing staff.
15. Climb within your capabilities.
16. Instruction (especially belaying) may only be provided by working HEXROCK Climbing staff/instructors.
17. Keep personal items off padded flooring (water bottles, backpacks, phones, etc.).
18. No food or drinks on padded flooring.
19. Report any issues with walls, holds, ropes, equipment, or behavior to staff immediately.
20. Do not attach any hardware to HEXROCK Climbing walls and do not grab or place fingers in wall hardware.
21. Have fun, and help keep the community safe.
AGE
GUIDELINES
To ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone, we maintain the following age policies:
13 Years and Under - Must be supervised by an adult at all times in the facility.
Ages 2+ – May climb on auto belay and top rope routes with direct adult supervision (must weigh at least 30 lbs).
Age 8+ - Eligible to join the youth team.
Ages 12+ – May boulder and clip into auto belays with adult supervisions.
Ages 14+ – May use the facility without adult supervision and may top rope belay after certification.
Ages 15+ – May lead climb and lead belay after certification.
Under 18 – Considered minors; a parent or legal guardian must complete and sign a waiver prior to participation.
All Ages - Must have a signed waiver on file, present a valid photo ID at check-in, and complete a facility orientation during their first visit.
All climbers must meet applicable skill and certification requirements where necessary.
Belay Age Requirements
Top Rope Belay
Ages 16+ may take the Top Rope Belay Check at any time.
Ages 14–15 may take the Top Rope Belay Check only if they have successfully completed an in-house belay course, present an active USAC card, or are a member of our youth team with appropriate training.
Climbers ages 2+ may climb top rope routes, provided their belayer has passed the required belay check.
Lead Climbing & Belay
Ages 16+ may take the Lead Climbing & Belay Check at any time.
Age 15 may take the Lead Climbing & Belay Check only if they have successfully completed an in-house belay course, present an active USAC card, or are a member of our youth team with appropriate training.
